Learning to Fetch Medication
Learning to fetch medication was a big step for Bella in her assistance dog training. At first, she hesitated, unsure of the importance of the task. But with gentle guidance and praise, she soon understood, proudly bringing the medication to me on her own. That first successful retrieval was a moment I’ll never forget.
Fetching medication in action
I was on the floor, feeling the onset of a syncope episode, and asked Bella to bring my medication. Without hesitation, she sprang into action, retrieved the meds instantly, and delivered them carefully to me. Her speed, focus, and understanding in that moment reminded me just how reliable and capable she is as an assistance dog.
Retieving an inhaler
This was training at home, I told Bella to go to the kitchen and bring my inhaler (item specific), she did so without fuss or confusion.
Bella opens doors
In this training exercise, Bella demonstrates her ability to open a door using a tie attached to the handle. Watch as she focuses, grips the tie, and pulls with precision, showcasing her intelligence, problem-solving skills, and practical service dog abilities.
